ING and Hines agree green loan financing for a logistics portfolio in the Czech Republic

ING Czech Republic has agreed a green real estate finance loan with Hines, the global real estate investment, development and property manager, on behalf of its Hines European Core Fund (HECF). This kind of green financing is ING’s first for Hines in the Czech Republic reaching EUR 33.5 million. The financed portfolio reached sustainability certificate BREEAM Very Good1.

ING steps up renewable energy efforts and restricts financing of new oil & gas fields

ING has worked hard over the years to build a power generation lending book that’s 60% renewables, outperforming by far the most ambitious climate goal of the Paris Agreement. Today we go a step further and announce that we aim to grow new financing of renewable energy by 50% by year-end 2025 and will no longer provide dedicated finance to new oil & gas fields.

Erik Fortgens appointed new country manager of ING Czech Republic

In 2022, ING celebrates 30 years on the Czech market. As of 1 January, the bank is led by Erik Fortgens. The Head of Wholesale Banking in the Czech Republic succeeds former CEO, Roel Huisman, who has been appointed head of change at the newly established global department ING Payments and Settlement utility. As per 1 January 2022, ING in the Czech Republic focuses on Wholesale Banking clients only.

ING posts 2Q2021 net result of €1,459 million

2Q2021 result before tax of €2,065 million; capital position strengthens to 15.7%. Growth in fee income of 18.3% year-on-year, especially in daily banking and investment products. Net interest income declined due to liability margin pressure. Net release of risk costs following an update of macroeconomic indicators. Expenses remained under control. Shareholder distribution of €3,618 million after 30 September 2021.

ING posts 1Q2021 net result of €1,005 million

1Q2021 result before tax of €1,463 million; capital position remains strong at 15.5%. Net interest income up on 4Q2020, supported by the benefi t from TLTRO III, which more than off set liability margin pressure. Robust growth in fee income of 9.1% year-on-year, especially on investment products. 1Q2021 had a low level of risk costs. Expenses were under control, but included some incidental costs due to restructuring.

ING announced today that Andrew Bester will be appointed member of the Management Board Banking and head of Wholesale Banking. Andrew takes up his position on 6 April 2021, succeeding Isabel Fernandez, who stepped down effective 31 December 2020.

Anne-Sophie Castelnau has been appointed ING’s global head of Sustainability per 1 April 2021. She will succeed Amin Mansour, who fulfilled the role on an interim basis. Anne-Sophie is currently head of Wholesale Banking for ING in France.
