Now you can send international payments with more confidence. Our new equivalent value payment feature on InsideBusiness Payments makes transactions simpler, more predictable, and gives you greater control over your transactions.
How it works
When sending a payment to a beneficiary in a country with a different local currency, you can now instruct the payment in your home currency. Your account will be debited for the exact amount you specify, and ING will take care of the currency conversion, sending the funds in the beneficiary’s local currency. This ensures clarity and precision in your international payments.
Benefits of using Equivalent value payment
Competitive foreign exchange (FX) rates
ING offers attractive FX rates for your international transactions. By converting funds at the point of payment, the beneficiary often receives a higher amount in their local currency than if the conversion were performed by their receiving bank.
Potential savings
Many beneficiary banks apply FX margins that can exceed 2%, and in some cases, reach as high as 4–5%. By leveraging ING’s competitive rates, you minimise these costs and maximise the funds your beneficiary receives.
Transparency and control
You know exactly how much is debited from your account, making reconciliation easier and reducing unpredictability in your international payments.
Good to know
To ensure the beneficiary receives the intended amount, please confirm that their account is denominated in the local currency of the destination country. If the account is not in the local currency, a double conversion may occur, potentially reducing the final amount received.
Please note that the exchange rate displayed in the dialogue box for the equivalent value payment feature is an indicative rate. It provides a good indication of the rate at the time you view it, but the final rate applied to your transaction may vary slightly depending on when we receive and process your payment. This provides transparency and sets a realistic expectation of the conversion rate, while still allowing you to benefit from ING’s competitive FX rates and the predictability of knowing the debited amount in your home currency.
