ING Sofia was announced the Best Foreign Bank Branch for 2020 by the Bank of the Year Association. The awards distinguish the best performers in the banking industry, basing on the financial results from the consolidated annual reports declared by the banks to the Bulgarian National Bank.
Grzegorz Konieczny, Country Head and Marina Kobakova, Head of Sector Coverage accepted the award on behalf of ING
The award for the Best Foreign Bank Branch of 2020 went to ING Sofia, highlighting the great performance of the team, who despite the economic difficulties of 2020 succeeded in performing a number of noticeable transactions and deals with both well established, as well as newly onboarded clients.
“It is an honour for me to receive this award on behalf of ING Sofia. I would like to sincerely express my gratitude firstly to our clients. Some of them have been with us for 27 years since the bank opened the branch in Sofia. Others have recently chosen ING as their reliable business partner.
Secondly, I would like to thank our front office and the whole team of our branch. They all put tremendous efforts to be there for our clients and show that ING remains their trustful and reliable partner even in such extremely challenging times. Like 2020 was for the whole world economy.
I am proud we have managed to go the extra mile and at the same time ensure what our clients expect from us – to take care of their banking while they do their thing!”
- Grzegorz Konieczny, Country Head of ING Sofia, who received the award on behalf of ING Sofia during the ceremony.
The physical award presented to ING represents the graphic symbol of the euro, portrayed as the sun with its rays illuminating the European Union countries.
The Association Bank of the Year was established in 1992 and since then it has organised the banking awarding ceremony for 29 consecutive years. The annual bank awards are given in different categories with a jury calculating the individual indicators both nominally and as a percentage.
For 2020, the awards were given in five different categories: “Foreign Bank Branch”, “Market share”, “Efficiency”, “Development dynamics” and “Bank of the Year”. To read more about the best performers in all categories, read here.
