Blockchain Innovation Conference 2017 review

The Blockchain Innovation Conference took place on 22 June at the KPMG headquarters in Amsterdam. The conference was supported by founding partners ING, KPMG, Rabobank, KPN, HPE, and IBM.

Theme of this year was 'Blockchain Growing Pains!'. The event brought together around 50 speakers and 400 national and international pioneers, from start-ups, the corporate world and government, who discussed the radical changes blockchain technology is bringing to all activities that rely on trusted third parties.


Watch the presentations of:

- Ivar Wiersma, head of innovation for ING Wholesale Banking, responsible for developing and executing WB’s innovation strategy. Chairing the WB Innovation Board, managing WB’s portfolio of initiatives, accelerator program and responsible for both the WB Advanced Analytics team and ING’s Blockchain Program.

- Jean-Christophe Manghardt, business lead innovation for commodity trading and finance at ING, currently leading an initiative in ING’s startup accelerator to transform commodity trade and finance through the use of blockchain: Easy Trading Connect.

- Mark Buitenhek, responsible for payments, cash management, trade finance, working capital solutions, commercial cards as well as advanced analytics. Reshaping business models by a.o. innovation is one of the key aspects in these areas, which is why Mark focuses on digitization, process redesign and distributed ledger solutions.
